The study found that 66 percent of coffee drinkers and 33 percent of tea drinkers added sugar, cream and milk to their beverage.
It is estimated that 50 percent of adults drink coffee on a regular basis. People who do not drink their coffee black consume 69 extra calories per day. They also consume 36.7 extra grams of sugar per day. This may not seem like much. However, if a person consumes extra sugar and calories every day, then he or she can easily gain weight.
Even if you cannot drink your coffee without sweetening it, there are still ways that you can cut down on the calorie content. For example, you can sweeten your coffee with skim milk. This will also cut the sugar content.
You may also want to try black coffee. You may not like it at first because you are not used to it, but you can get adjusted to it over time. This is a habit that can be hard to break because many of us have always added sugar and cream to our coffee. However, this is a habit that can be broken with time and practice.
