Four Cups of Coffee a Day: Why Not?

How much coffee can you drink in a single day without having to worry about health issues. According to a new research study published in the April 2017 issue of the Journal of Food and Chemical Toxicology, 400 milligrams per day is a healthy range, which means that four cups can be enjoyed without fear of adverse effects.

The aforementioned study, which was reported by the popular lifestyle website Lifehacker, is one of the most extensive ever conducted on the subject of daily caffeine intake. The data mining conducted for this particular research involved more than 700 previous studies. The four cups a day is a healthy amount for most adults; however, pregnant women should limit their intake to just three cups.

In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration has been recommending that coffee drinkers should limit their daily consumption to four cups since 2003; nonetheless, some nutritionists believed that two cups per day should be a limit for most people. While the new study may suggest that 400 milligrams of caffeine are a safe daily range, it is important to note that the propagation of coffee culture prompts many people to consume higher quantities.

Drinking more than four cups of coffee per day week after week may result in depressive episodes as well as high blood pressure. Furthermore, excessive caffeine may also affect the DNA structure of sperm cells. Coffee drinkers who have health issues such as diabetes should not feel comfortable drinking more than one cup per day without consulting with their doctors.
