Drinking Four Cups Of Coffee Before A Workout Can Help You Burn Additional Calories

Every day, there seems to be a new study coming out that talks about how coffee can be a part of a healthy diet. A recent study has shown that drinking four cups of coffee before your workout can help you burn more fat while you are exercising.

Scientists discovered a long time ago that coffee can help boost performance. However, they once thought that people should abstain from drinking alcohol prior to a workout. The new study proves that coffee has the opposite effect.

A team of researchers at the University of Sao Paulo did a study that involved 40 male cyclists. They were asked about their caffeine consumption. They were asked to ride for 30 minutes as hard as they possible. After they had cycled, they were asked to consume a tablet that had 400 mg of caffeine. This is the equivalent of drinking four cups of coffee.

The results of the study showed that the subjects were able to pedal 3.3 percent faster after they consumed caffeine. There was another trial that asked the subjects to take a placebo. They were able to pedal 2.2 percent faster. That may not seem like much of a difference. However, this small difference could cause one to break a world record.

The study also found that the people who normally consumed a lot of caffeine had results that were nearly identical to people who drank small amounts of coffee. Bruno Gualano is a professor of physiology and nutrition. He stated that taking caffeine can improve a person’s performance. However, it is important to note that the study only involved men. There needs to be an additional study done in order to see how caffeine affects female athletes.
