Drinking Coffee Can Extend Your Life

Health experts stated that coffee was bad for you for years. Now, they are saying that it is good for you. A recent study published in the British Medical Journal how show that drinking three or four cups of coffee per day can decrease your risk of death by up to 17 percent. The study found that people who were heavy coffee drinkers were less likely to develop certain cancers, liver disease and diabetes.

Even though drinking coffee can improve your health, there are some caveats that you will need to take note of. Pregnant women need to limit their coffee consumption. Excessive coffee consumption during pregnancy can increase the risk of a miscarriage. It can also increase the risk of premature birth and stillbirth.

You also have to be mindful of how you prepare the coffee. If you add too much cream or sugar, then you will cancel out any health benefits that you would reap from drinking coffee. You may also increase your risk of developing diabetes. Furthermore, the study examined the benefits of drinking eight-ounce cups of coffee. The effects of tall or grande coffee were not studied. Tall and grande are typically the options that are available at restaurants.

Sixty-four percent of people in America have at least one cup of coffee per day. The study reviewed data from 201 other studies.
