Demand For Coffee Outpaces Production

It seems to be a good time to be in the coffee business. There is plenty of demand for the product you produce in that business anyway. However, there is currently so much demand that it is outpacing the production of coffee throughout the entire world says malaya.com.

For the year 2017-2018 the demand for coffee will beat the total production number by an estimated 3.6 million bags. This is in part because of lower production in general throughout the world, but it is also a factor of more developing countries increasing their levels of demand as well. Both factors must be considered before making any kind of assumption about what has happened here.

The largest producer of coffee in the world is the country of Brazil. The forecast for the number of bags to come out of that country for the year 2017-2018 is estimated at 50.6 million bags. However, the forecast for the very next year is expected to exceed 60 million bags. This means that demand is rampant for more coffee all throughout the world. While this is true, it is also the case that production is going to have to continue to ramp up significantly for there to be enough coffee to go around.

There are some other countries that are getting into the coffee game as well. They include places like Indonesia with its forecast of 10.5 million bags, and Honduras with its 6.5 to 7 million bags. Every country involved in this trade will need to step up its levels of production if they hope to continue to compete in the global coffee market.
