New Houndstooth Coffee Shop Is Solar Powered

The recent Houndstooth Coffee that opened in Dallas is powered by solar energy. They will have eight charging station in the parking lot for electric cars by Telsa. This will be the company’s fifth and largest shop to open.

This 650 square foot shop was built using sustainable eco-friendly materials. It has a 1,200 sq. ft. porch and on the other side a 350 sq. ft house. This house will be used as a lounge for students and customers that use laptops.

The new coffeehouse shares the property with a home improvement company Treehouse. This company sell sustainable products. The design of the new coffee house was inspired by the owner’s concern for the environment. The materials used for the windows, furnishings, and decor are all renewable. Their lighting and fans used less energy than their other shops.

The Mavam espresso maker they had installed can be shut off over night. It still will maintain its hot temperature efficiently. They have grinders designed for batch brews. This is their first stand alone coffee house powered by solar energy. The sustainable wood floors and adequate sunlight gives this coffeehouse a pleasant atmosphere.

The Houndstooth owner is discussing with Treehouse how to make all their businesses more eco-friendly. They serve brewed coffees, espresso, cappuccino, hot chocolate, tea, iced tea, pastries, muffins, cupcakes tacos, beer and wine. The new location is at 9730 North Central Expressway.
