Pregnant Women And Coffee

Being pregnant is a wonderful time for many. However, many people wonder whether it is safe to consume coffee while they were pregnant. One study showed that women who consume 100 milligrams of caffeine per day are 14 percent more likely to have a miscarriage. They are also 19 percent more likely to have a stillborn baby.

 

The World Health Organization recommends that women restrict their caffeine intake to less than 300 milligrams per day. Pregnancy also affects the way that coffee smells and tastes to pregnant women. Andrea Allen is the co-owner of Onyx Coffee Lab. She stated that working in a coffee lab while pregnant was challenging. The smell of the coffee made her sick. Andrea had to ask other people for help while she was working.

 

Working as a barista can be a challenge for a pregnant woman. They spend 8 to 10 hours on their feet, which can trigger swelling. Pregnant women are already more likely to develop foot swelling.

 

It is also important to note that it can be harmful for pregnant women to spend a lot of time on their feet. Studies have shown that spending a lot of time on your feet while pregnant can increase the risk of pre-term delivery.
